Prof. Bimal Roy, ISI Kolkata, India
Biography: Prof. Bimal Kumar Roy is an Ex-Director of the Indian Statistical Institute. He is a cryptologist from the Cryptology Research Group of the Applied Statistics Unit of ISI, Kolkata. He received a Ph.D. in Combinatorics and Optimization in 1982 from the University of Waterloo under the joint supervision of Ronald C. Mullin and Paul Jacob Schellenberg. Currently he is the Head of R C Bose Centre for Cryptology and Security, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. He joined the Institute in 1984, has served as a Professor since 1997, and as the Director during 2010 to 2015. In 2015, Prof Roy was awarded Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honour, recognizing his accomplishments and contribution to education.
Feng XUE, IBM, Singapore
Biography: Mr Feng Xue is Senior Program Manager of Client Quality from IBM System Supply Chain Engineering with 13 years’ experience in semiconductor technology and supply chain operation. This includes semiconductor process integration and device characterization, advanced memory technology qualification, supplier quality management, supply chain management for electronic components and engineering data analysis. In his current role, he is leading initiatives on internal quality management systems, supplier quality programs, business analytics, engineering skill development and technical leadership development. He is currently the member of IBM Academy of Technology, and the member of iNEMI (International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative) AP Packaging Technology Committee. He graduated from Nanyang Technological University Singapore with B.Eng (1st Class Honor) and National University of Singapore with Master of Science (Microelectronics). He has paper publications in various international conferences such as IEEE, ICEP and SMTA. He holds one issued US patent and two US patent applications, all of which are related to applying analytics to quality control, performance prediction & optimization.

Prof. C. A. Murthy, ISI Kolkata, India
Biography: Prof. C. A. Murthy was born in Ongole, India in 1958. He obtained B. Stat (Hons), M. Stat. and Ph. D. degrees from the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI). He visited the Michigan State University, East Lansing in 1991-92 for six months, and the Pennsylvania State University, University Park for 18 months in 1996 - 97. He is a Professor (HAG) in the Machine Intelligence Unit of ISI. His fields of research interest include Pattern Recognition, Image Processing, Machine Learning, Neural Networks, Fractals, Genetic Algorithms, Wavelets and Data Mining. He received the best paper award in 1996 in Computer Science from the Institute of Engineers, India. He received the Vasvik award along with his two colleagues for Electronic Sciences and Technology for the year 1999. He is a fellow of the National Academy of Engineering, India and National Academy of Sciences, India. He was the head of the Machine Intelligence Unit, ISI from 2005 to 2010. He was Professor-in-Charge of the Computer and Communication Sciences Division of ISI during 2012 to 2014.
Prof. G. P. Biswas, IIT(ISM), Dhanbad, India
Biography: Prof. G. P. Biswas received B.Sc. Engg. and M.Sc. Engg. degrees in Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering, respectively. He completed his PhD degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. He is currently working as a Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Indian Institute Technology (Indian school of Mines), Dhanbad, Jharkhand, India. He has around 20 years of teaching and research experiences, and published more than 200 research articles in Journals, Conferences and Seminar Proceedings. His main research interests include Cryptography, Wired/Wireless Networks and VLSI Designs. He served as Head of Department of Computer Science & Engineering from 2006-2010 at IIT(ISM), Dhanbad, Jharkhand, India. He visited Imperial College, London and Miyazaki, Japan for attending Intl. Conferences and acted as a session chair in London. He was involved in research projects like CA-based test patterns generation (MHRD), Information Security Education and Awareness- ISEA (Govt. of India) and VLSI testable designs (Fujitsu Microelectronics, Japan).
Prof. Iti Saha Misra, Jadavpur University, India
Biography: Prof. Iti Saha Misra is the immediate past Head of the Department and presently holding the post of Professor in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Jadavpur University. She is actively engaged in teaching since 1997. Her current research interests are in the areas of real time communication like VoIP and Video Communication over Cognitive Radio Networks, Wireless Body Area Networks, Remote Health Monitoring System, Radio Resource Management for Broadband Wireless Networks, Call admission and packet scheduling for BWA networks and developing innovative application with sensor networks. She has authored more than 220 Journal papers and International Conference research papers of repute. She has published one book on Wireless Communications and Networks published by McGraw Hill, India, and one book on VoIP and its applications is under publication by Springer. She has visited many countries like USA, UK, France, Australia, Czec Republic, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thiland and Bangladesh to present research papers and invited lectures. She was the visiting researcher at NTU LAB with the TEQIP funding for a month in the year 2005. She has handled the DST FIST and PURSE projects in ETCE Department, developed advanced Broadband Wireless Communication laboratory in the ETCE Department. She is the recipient of AICTE Young Teacher Career Award 2003, IETE Gowri Memorial Award 2007. She is the Senior Member of IEEE, founder Chair of the Women In Engineering, Affinity Group, IEEE Calcutta Section, served as Treasurer and Secretary of IEEE Kolkata Section and at present, the Chairperson of IEEE Communication Society, Kolkata section. Under her leadership Women in Engineering affinity group has won the first prize from USA in 2008 and ComSoc Kolkata Chapter won the Chapter of the Year Awards in the year 2015 and 2017. She has successfully completed the IEEE SIGHT project as the SIGHT Chair under IEEE Kolkata Section and developed a project on Low Cost Low Bandwidth solution for remote education system with the funding from IEEE HQ.
Prof. Jayanta Mukhopadhyay, IIT Kharagpur, India
Biography: Prof. Jayanta Mukhopadhyay received his B.Tech., M.Tech., and Ph.D. degrees in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. He is presently a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kharagpur. He served as the head of the Computer and Informatics Center at IIT, Kharagpur from September 2004 to July 2007. He also served as the head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the School of Information and Technology from April, 2010 to March, 2013. His research interests are in image processing, pattern recognition, computer graphics, multimedia systems, bioinformatics and medical informatics. He has published more than 270 research papers in journals and conference proceedings in these areas. He received the Young Scientist Award from the Indian National Science Academy in 1992. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, and a fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE).
Prof. P. K. Jana, IIT(ISM), Dhanbad, India
Biography: Prof. Prasanta K. Jana received his M. Tech. degree in Computer Science from University of Calcutta in 1988 and Ph. D. from Jadavpur University in 2000. Currently, he is a Professor & Head in the department of Computer Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad, India. He has contributed 175 research publications in his credit and co-authored five books and three book chapters. He has also produced 11 Ph.Ds. As a recognition of his outstanding research contributions, he has been awarded Senior Member of IEEE in 2009. He is also the recipient of Canara Bank Research Publication Award in the year 2015. His current research interest includes Wireless Sensor Networks, Cloud Computing, Data Clustering and Machine Learning. He is in the editorial board of two international journals and acted as referees in many reputed international journals. Prof. Jana has acted as the General Chair of the International Conference RAIT-2012, Co-chair of national conference RAIT-2009 and Convener of the workshop WPDC-2008. He has also served as Advisory Committee and Programme Committee Member of several international conferences. He visited University of Aizu, Japan, Las Vegas, USA, Imperial college of London, UK, University of Macau, Macau and Hong Kong for academic purpose.
Dr. Piyush Harsh, Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Switzerland
Biography: Dr. Piyush Harsh has been participating in large scale collaborative research and innovation projects funded by European Commission since 2011 covering focus areas in cloud research, large scale testing infrastructures, 5G-PPP, etc. This talk will take the audience through shifting trends in European research over these years in this field, and also cover the projected trend in research until 2020. The talk will cover the outcomes of some of the recent projects undertaken by him: Contrail, MCN, TNOVA, ElasTest. He will define and expand high potential upcoming focus areas in cloud research, identifying yet to be solved research challenges. The talk will conclude by outlining the process by which Indian academic institutions, researchers and students can participate in future research calls from European Commission.
Prof. Subramaniam Ganesan, Oakland University, Rochester, USA (through Skype)
Biography: Prof Subramaniam Ganesan is a Professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Oakland University, Rochester, MI 48309, USA. He has over 30 years of teaching and research experience in Digital Computer systems. He was the chair of the CSE department from1991 to 98. He received Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He worked at National Aeronautical Laboratory, India, Ruhr University, Germany, Concordia University, Canada, and Western Michigan University before joining at Oakland University. He has published over 100 journal papers, more than 200 papers in conference proceedings, and 3 books. More than twenty students have obtained PhD under his guidance and 8 students are currently doing PhD. He published a book on Java in 2003. He developed a custom DSP board with software for his DSP book. He is a senior member of IEEE, IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Visiting Speaker, IEEE Region 4 technical activities member and Fellow of ISPE. He received Life time Achievement award from ISAM, Lloyd L. Withrow Distinguished Speaker Award from SAE, Best Teacher award from ASEE, and Oakland University. He has organized many international conferences. He is the editor in chief of an International Journal of Embedded system and Computer Engineering and International journal of Sensors and applications. Speaker: Prof. Sukumar Nandi, IIT Guwahati, India
Biography: Prof. Sukumar Nandi received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, Kharagpur, India. He is currently a Professor of computer science and engineering with Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, Assam, India. He served as the General Vice Chair and General Co-Chair of the Eighth International Conference on Distributed Computing and Networking in 2006, the International Conference on Advanced Computing and Communications in 2007 and the Eighth International Conference on Information System Security in 2012. He is coauthored of a book entitled Theory and Application of Cellular Automata (IEEE Computer Society). He has published around 200 journals/conferences papers. His research interests include traffic engineering, wireless networks, network security and distributed computing. Dr. Nandi is a Senior Member of IEEE, a Senior Member of Association for Computing Machinery, a Fellow of The Institution of Engineers (India) and a Fellow of The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).
